Record the audio/videoFirstly, you will need to record the information that you require to be transcribed. This is done by using one of the many available digital recorders on the market today. These recorders are used to record dictation, conversations, interviews, hearings, presentations, speeches and meetings. Click here to read more about using recording devices. Please note that the only multi-voice audio recordings that we transcribe are disciplinary hearings. We do not transcribe general audio recordings of meetings. We do however transcribe video recordings of meetings. You will need to refer to the user manual that you received when purchasing your recording device, to assist you in obtaining the best possible recording quality. This is important when recording interviews, training sessions, etc. as it affects the speed at which the final audio file or video file can be transcribed which in turn will impact on the transcription charge rate. There are, in fact, many factors that influence both the speed of transcription and the quality of the final transcript. Read more about audio quality. 2. Send audio or video files to EtranscriptOnce you have completed the recordings, save the audio or video files to your PC or laptop hard drive. Now you will need to send these files to Etranscript to be transcribed. This can be done in a number of ways:
3. Transcription of your audio or video filesThe transcription process begins as soon as we have received the files from you. These audio or video files will be saved locally and each one will be spot checked to ensure that we have received suitable video and/or sound quality. Using transcription software, we will then transcribe the audio file or video file into a typed transcript. During the transcription of interviews or hearings etc, certain words and symbols are used to indicate particular aspects of the transcribed audio such as "-" indicates an interruption; and "..." indicates a pause. See our list of transcript indicators. The turnaround time for each transcription project will depend on many different factors. These include audio quality, file formats, language fluency, etc. The standard transcript of an interview omits false sentence, starts, um's and ah's. The function of the transcript will determine the level of verbatim required and the type of transcript that will be compiled. 4. Completed transcript document is sent to youThe completed transcript is then quality assured (QA'd) by us - this involves replaying the audio and double-checking for any typo's and spelling errors. Once the QA process is complete, the transcript will be emailed to you. It will, of course, be necessary for you to do the final QA to ensure a quality final transcript.5. ConfidentialityAll work is treated with the highest degree of confidentiality. We will sign your confidentiality agreement on commencement of your transcription work; or we will send our Confidentiality Undertaking to you. Encryption of transcripts and documents sent by email can be arranged; or the completed documents can be transferred to you using our secure file transfer facility. And that's it folks - it's as simple as that! |
